WONG LYE TENG (1404016F)
Reflection:
Sembawang Park has a very interesting sculptural form. I feel that it has done well in incorporating the feel of "pirate" within the playground with the forms and materials chosen for the site such as the wood and metal. The user gets to experience the different levels of flooring as the walk around the structure as the form is sort of "concave" meaning the ends of the structure are the tallest while the middle portion of the structure is closer to the ground. There are different height level 'cubicles' leading to different space such as the slide and the seats area, The different height level enables user to view the park and playground from different perspective giving each view a rather unique one. Certain areas have low steel 'ceiling' as well, forcing users to crawl through the space. However, due to the ground area being sand, over time, sand has been carried up little by little onto the structure thus crawling through the structure may be painful due to the sand. There is also a metal chain 'ladder' leading up to the structure which is rather painful when grabbing and stepped, despite it having aesthetic values, the comfort zone was not present. Therefore, I feel that Sembawang Park has an interesting concept in terms of the different levels throughout the structure making it unique compared to other playgrounds which may either be flat or levelled like structure without much flow however it also has disadvantages here and there such that young children may not be suitable to play here as in some areas like the fireman pole, the height may be dangerous.

PW: Good job! I am glad you went to out to play and observe. You forgot your reflection and evaluation of the playgrounds. Please include a short reflection and summary about what you learnt.
