Research: SKATEPARKS IN SINGAPORE

1st Park: FENGSHAN SKATEPARK @ Fengshan Community Centre

 Date created/built: Unconfirmed.
 Built by: Unknown

Purpose: Built due to overwhelming population of skateboarders in the area and poor conditions of the past Bedok Skatepark.
 
Features: 10" high round rail. "Funbox" Ledges + Ramps, Bank.

Street Lights in the park stopped working in October 2014 and has been not fixed up till now.

Size: Small. Estimated to be similar to a narrow basket ball court. Unable to accommodate more than 4- 6 people skating at once

Location: not favourable as Residents complain about noise from park.


2.BEDOK SKATEPARK

Built by/Ramps from: Woodward Skate Ramps,                                         Unknown

Wide variety of Skate Ramps and Obstacles

Abundance of Space for Skateboarding or any other extreme sport. Able to accommodate large amounts of people or large events.

Well lit in the evening. Park was not maintained or repaired and overtime, park become unskateble. Skaters started to abandon the Park as it was barely skateable. Ground became extremely rough causing alot of injuries and everything was in shambles. The government/community then shut down the park in September 2014 to make room for other plans for development.



 3.EAST COAST SKATE PARK 





Built by the Government so as to appease the demands of youths engaging in extreme action sports.

Skatepark Designed by a Famous BMX biker.
It is a skatepark of international competition standards.

Wide variety of Skate Ramps and Obstacles
E.g Quarter Pipes, Pyramids, "Hubbas" etc.

4.SOMERSET SKATEPARK

Built in Replacement of the Old Queenstown Skatepark.

Street style Skatepark consisting of metal ramps and concrete flooring.

     Seats surrounding  the elevated pathway are also skateable due to its metallic coping
Graffiti/Street art throughout the park, on walls, ramps and even floors.





Skate ledges, boxes and manual pads are adjustable, allowing for different layout of the obstacles around the park
