As I've said, I wanted to integrate more active play in my design.

I borrowed the idea of having a hanging sitting place. I also studied how people sit and referring back to my mood board which shows slanting planes.

Moving on to the transition from the walking area to the river bed, my case studies show that some of the pools have slopes and others have steps. i would like to incorporate gentle slopes in my design.

i wanted to incorporate this idea of an active play area which does not force them to play a certain game but let them create their own play. I discussed with ben since he was doing a maze and i found
a hotel named nakagin capsule tower where they made use of cubes and stacking.
h
i decided to sketch because you cant really see much in the model because it is made out of transparent plastic sheets.

I played with the height and the position of the cubes and i also added bars from my obstacle course.

On another area, I also decided to incorporate the slope. i didnt go to the adventure cove but i studied it and i found that there is an area where you float beside the aqua life like the fishes.

I would like to make a plot twist. I would like to make a transparent swimming pool where the humans resemble the fishes in the enclosure.

I would also like to integrate this idea of having a free play area like one of my vase study where they play basketball or volleyball since i have fre space on the 1st level.

I would also like to add a bridge above the pool. it connects the 2 ends of the pool encouraging interaction.

Previously, I have talked about contouring i want to incorporate this by having a free contouring platform where visitors can sit or stand. it is contouring as the position of the visitors get higher so that they can enjoy the view from the top.

This is a pic of the model. regarding shade, ive only chosen the top left spot to be shaded by an overhead plane because it is where the users will first arrive when they climb the stairs to this level.

From the places that ive visited, they only have limited shading because they want the users to experience the feeling of outdoor play. This contradicts my idea to have the place shaded because its too hot. My stand is to have sticks in repetition. it provides little shade.

One more thing is that the places that are made of glass is actually for sunlight to penetrate thru the glass so that there is natural light in the 1st storey.

1:100 Part Model
For this model i wanted to focus on the middle of my design because it is where most people walk through the park so that part of the park is what i want it to be a bait to lure more visitors to the park.
This is the reflective pool that I've made accessible for all visitors but mostly targeted to dancers who want to create a splashing effect to their performance. So it actually follows the path from the bus stop to the back of the building where the main reflective pool is.

This is the main reflective pool where people could enter or dance in there.

This my the overview of my part model, I've removed the second floor to show the main features of the middle of the park as people walk through the park from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner and this is what they would see as they walk through the park.

This is the entrance hall of the building which i want to focus on because of the interesting natural light play i have created for this area whereby I've cut holes through the roof and covering it with glass to prevent rain from entering. This creates interesting light rays that shape into the shapes from the top of the roof. shapes formed can be seen from image above and bottom.
Light rays shone when in the evening.

Light rays shone in the morning.

Light rays shone in the afternoon.

Close up to show how the roof top holes work.

The top view of the roof where the light goes through the holes creating those shapes in the interior of the entrance hall.

i personally feel that this is not the best model and i will do up an improved version of it but this is my concept of the natural light play and what i want the passers by to see when they walk through the park to go somewhere else and what would attract them to come back and visit the next time. ;)

Wave Park
Model 1:100 Scale

Front View (without walkway)
Waterfall Feature (water will come out from the rock wall and collected in a pool).
To enhance on the natural elements, i added small rocks and grasses along the pool, to look like a real river bank.

Inspired By:

There is a huge man-made waterfall in the Flower Dome of Gardens By The Bay. This waterfall amazes people whenever they enter the building. So i wanted my user to fell the same way too. The picture of the right shows how my user will enter the hall.

My user will feel like as if they are walking INTO a waterfall, there will be small rocks for them to cross over, just like the one in bishan park.

OVERHANGING: When users are walking on the walkway(within the rock climbing hall) they can feel as if they are walking in a real cave.

Change of Walkway Design(look at the green rope)

I wanted to add more fun to my walkway, when i saw this picture, i thought that i can make my user's experience walking in and out of the Rock climbing hall more fun. The green rope will be the extension of my walkway, flowing in and out of the holes. So that they can see both the interior and exterior of the site.
